What an amazing view from the bandstand for this wedding of Nikki & Nick @ The Bathers Pavillion in Balmoral. Hard not to feel inspired to play some great music when you’re looking out over a sparking Sydney Harbour towards north head on a day like that. The photo below was taken on an iPhone from our Acoustic Trio set up nestled in amongst the wedding ceremony on the balcony.
And these smaller pics below were taken on a proper camera by the lovely crew from milkandhoney.com.au
From start to finish, I was completely happy with booking SJC for our wedding. I was able to sample their live performances on their website, and listen to their talented musicians online before booking. Tom’s advice was invaluable, and we booked the quintet to get guests up and dancing. On the day, the band were brilliant, very professional, with a great sound, and entertaining everyone from grandparents to the kids. Our guests were very impressed with the music, and we will be recommending them to friends in the future.

Just got back from our ‘Way Out West’ tour which finished with a few gigs at the annual Dubbo Jazz Festival. Really great vibe from the crowd & lots of fun to share some more of our original music + favourite jazz standards.

We’re often getting asked for recordings featuring various combinations of instruments, and a common request is to hear more tracks from our Option 4B (Quartet with Female Vocals). This is the second most commonly booked format for the band, after our most popular Option 5B (Quintet with Vocalist).
So here’s a recent live recording of us performing at the wedding of Maily Tran & Phil Yeung @ Doltone House in Pyrmont. Enjoy!
What a beautiful intimate wedding ceremony & reception our Sydney Jazz Collective trio was privileged to be involved with over the weekend. Fantastic weather, great vibe, friendly people, and always a whole lot of fun musically in the trio format – thanks guys!
Thank you for providing such a wonderful addition to our wonderful day. I feel that I have chosen the best in music, catering and photography, and all comments from the guests and bridal party were extremely positive including with regard to the trio, with a special mention for Jo’s wonderful voice. Everyone thought you were all wonderful.
We recently enjoyed performing in our instrumental trio format at Sydney Town Hall for a corporate function to celebrate the merger of Blake Dawson with the English law firm Ashurst. With about 400 guests anticipated, an amazing acoustic space, and the backdrop of Sydney’s giant pipe organ – we knew it was going to be a fun night musically!
Thanks to Ben and the team at Town Hall for doing an amazing job distributing a great balanced sound throughout the space without being too loud, and also to photographer David Hunt (from Lensflair Photography) whose marvellous work you can enjoy below.
The sun came out to play yesterday and enhanced the spectacular backdrop to Kate and Matt’s wedding at Athol Hall. A beautiful daytime ceremony complete with gorgeous, relaxed bride and groom was complemented with some chilled jazz tunes on the balcony – followed by some impressively energetic dancing inside later on. A cracker of a day! Congratulations to the lucky couple.
A quick snap taken between sets from our recent harbour cruise gig for the Mercedes Benz executives from Sao Paulo in Brazil. This cruise took place around Sydney harbour onboard MV Coast, and was easily one of the best boat functions we’ve performed for. The boat was only a few years old, very well kitted out, and the staff were great – they run a really slick operation for any function managers or brides out there looking for a brilliant way to enjoy one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Really makes you appreciate the natural beauty of Sydney!
… and some feedback below from the event organiser.
The Sydney Jazz Collective performed for our clients Gala Dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour. Thank you to both the band and Tom for their sheer professionalism, flexibility and outstanding performance from the lead up right through to the event bump out. All our guests had a fantastic time with the perfect setting provided from dinner to upbeat dance floor mood. Our client requests were very particular but Tom and the team were more than happy to help offering flexibility and great ideas. We have no hesitation in recommending the Sydney Jazz Collective and certainly would engage their services for future events.
