We had a ball recently as Guest Entertainers on the newest ship in the PnO fleet, the amazing Pacific Eden. With 3 of the quartet having children under 3 at home, it was a week of uninterrupted sleep, some serious cabin-based practice, and great playing. The Sydney Jazz Collective headlined the beautiful Blue Room; entertaining a full house each night with a mix of music ranging from jazz to soul as well as some fun arrangements of songs by Bonnie Raitt, Sting, and Crowded House.
What a pleasure to play every night for a week with the same great musicians and a crowd that grew by the set!
Thanks to the Eden’s Entertainment Director VJ, and all of the Cruisers who raved at their friends and had us playing to a packed room every night!
Here’s a little sample of the trio playing in jazz-mode whilst singer Jo Fabro was busy taking requests from some of the ‘regulars’!
We just received some really beautiful close up shots of the band performing for a daytime wedding by the beach at Balmoral Bathers Pavilion. Always a joy to perform at this venue and special thanks to Jim Pollard from jimpollardgoesclick.com who took these photos below.
We had a wonderful day at our wedding and we really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We thought band were absolutely fantastic and everyone that attended our wedding commented on how great they thought the band was too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to family and friends for the future. Will be in touch again.
Sydney Jazz Collective recently performed for another fantastic Great Gatsby party – which is a theme we’ve been seeing used very successfully at several events since the film was released. This most recent Gatsby theme event was a fundraiser function for the KidzFix Foundation. The specific purpose was to raise enough money to purchase a NETS (Newborn & Paediatric Emergency Transport Service) ambulance for rural & regional deployment – so we were very happy to be supporting this worthy cause.
Very excited that Sydney Jazz Collective has been selected for an international advertising campaign for Sony Television.
We can’t mention any details of the campaign until it goes public, but looks like things will be underway soon as there are some images of the band starting to appear on Sony.com – watch this space for more info!
We were delighted to recently perform for the opening of a new Fossil shop in the QVB arcade. This performance featured our Option 3B Vocal Trio (vocalist, guitar, double bass) which is a configuration that works really well for atmospheric sophistication at events like opening a new premises.
The performance of Sydney Jazz Collective was briefly mentioned on SocialDiary.com.au and the event organiser also send us some direct feedback below.
The band was fantastic on the evening and enjoyed by all! They really helped set the scene with their ambient tunes for our store launch. Thanks again and we’ll definitely keep Sydney Jazz Collective in mind for our future events!

We’ve just come off the back of a crazy busy season of corporate Christmas parties & summer wedding gigs throughout Oct/Nov/Dec. So it’s such a sweet feeling to come up for fresh air & emerge into the bright & shiny brand spanking new 2014 with a whole bunch of live recordings captured during that busy time. Here’s the first taster to get the ball rolling, with plenty more to come as we take some time to have a listen through the tracks.
This live recording was made while the band performed at the wedding of Jill & Andrew at Sergeant’s Mess – and fortunately they liked it too!
It was an absolute pleasure to have Sydney Jazz Collective perform at our wedding. What a breeze!!!!! From contacting you for a quote through to receiving details, answering all my weird and wonderful questions and just letting the band ‘do their thing’. It was so nice to have that element of surprise when everything else in the day is so meticulously planned. And it was the right choice. The band just knew what to do. I wish I could’ve chatted to the guys for longer to say another few times ‘thank you’. We could not have asked for anything better. It was exactly what we wanted. I will certainly recommend you to anyone/everyone. Thank you for all your time and support, the whole process was truly so easy and hassle free, and thanks for contributing to the day that both Andrew and I deem as the best day of our lives.

We were stoked to receive the following thankyou note from event organiser Catherine Wilson, after performing at her sister’s wedding.
… and a bit of feedback from the bride and groom too!
The band were fantastic. Very professional, easy to deal with, accommodating and their performance was top notch. I have had many comments from the guests saying how much they enjoyed the band from the oldest wedding guests to the younger guests. It is fair to say we were absolutely ecstatic to have them perform on our special day.
